Frequently asked questions

Everything applicants ask us most. Can’t find your answer? Email hello@workaid.io.

The job

Is this a freelance job?

No. WorkAid’s Philippine company employs you full-time. You get a payslip, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, HMO from your start date and 13th month pay.

Where will I work?

From home in the Philippines. WorkAid sends you a laptop set up for the work. You’ll need a quiet, private space and reliable internet.

What are the working hours?

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Sydney time. In Manila that’s 5:30 am to 2:00 pm from early October to early April, and 6:30 am to 3:00 pm from early April to early October, because Sydney changes its clocks and Manila doesn’t. There’s a one-hour unpaid meal break, at a time you agree with your client contact.

Who will I work for?

One Australian accounting practice, full-time. We don’t name the practices publicly.

What software will I use?

Xero or MYOB (Xero Payroll or MYOB payroll for payroll jobs), plus the practice’s own tools.

What if the practice stops working with WorkAid?

You’re employed by WorkAid, not by the practice. If a practice ends its engagement, WorkAid looks for another practice for you.

Pay and benefits

How much is the salary?

We talk about salary on your first call.

How and when am I paid?

In pesos, twice a month, by bank transfer. Your payslips are in WorkAid’s staff portal.

What benefits do I get?

SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG, with WorkAid’s share paid; HMO cover from your start date; 13th month pay; paid leave; and Philippine regular and special holidays.

Do I need my own laptop?

No. WorkAid sends you a laptop, set up before your first day. It stays WorkAid’s property.

Applying

What experience do I need?

At least two years with Australian clients, in Xero or MYOB, and clear written English. Each job lists what else it needs.

How do I apply?

Choose a job and press Apply. It takes about five minutes. You’ll need your CV in PDF or Word, up to 4 MB, and a video introduction of 30 seconds to 1 minute. There’s no account to create.

What happens after I apply?

We email you a link to a short online assessment, about 25 minutes. A person on our recruitment team reads every application. If your experience fits a job, we contact you to arrange a call. If no job fits yet, we keep your application for 12 months.

Do I need to record a video?

Yes: 30 seconds to 1 minute, recorded on your phone is fine: who you are, the Australian clients you’ve worked with, and the job you want. You add it in the last step of the application, as an MP4, MOV or WebM file up to 50 MB.

What’s in the online assessment?

Two parts: a behaviour profile (24 questions about how you like to work, with no right or wrong answers) and an accounting skills test for your job (20 questions). Each question has 30 seconds, so plan for about 25 minutes in one sitting, somewhere quiet.

We email you the link after you apply. It works for 7 days, and you have one attempt. Switching to another tab, window or app is recorded, and so are copying, pasting and reloading the page. We don’t use your camera or microphone. A person on our recruitment team reviews every result.

If a disability makes a 30-second limit unfair for you, email hello@workaid.io before you start and we’ll talk about another way to assess you.

What does the hiring process look like?

Five steps: apply online, an online assessment (a behaviour profile and an accounting skills test, about 25 minutes, emailed to you after you apply), an introductory call, a written offer with NBI and reference checks (only with your consent), then your first day.

What documents will I need?

Before you start: an NBI clearance, two work references, a government ID, your TIN, your SSS, PhilHealth and Pag-IBIG numbers, a bank account, and a BIR 2316 from any employer this year. We never ask for your age, birth date, photos or a birth certificate.

How long is probation?

Six months, with a written check at the halfway point.

Trust and privacy

Do I need to pay anything?

Never. WorkAid never charges a fee to apply or to be hired, and never asks you to buy equipment.

How do I know a message is really from WorkAid?

We only email from @workaid.io addresses. We never interview you or make an offer over Telegram, Viber or WhatsApp chat, and we only ask for bank details after you sign your contract. Not sure? Email hello@workaid.io yourself before you reply.

What do you do with my information?

We use it only to consider you for WorkAid jobs, keep it for 12 months unless you’re hired or apply again, and never share it with a client. Read the privacy notice.
